Issue Research

The issue that I'm researching is climate change.

Climate is changing constantly and the global temperature is rising faster and faster. It not only affects human being, animals and even all living organisms, but also affects ecosystem, economies and communities.

Climate change involves natural causes and human causes. Two factors of contemporary climate change are changes in volcanic activities and changes in solar radiation. In terms of the earth's energy balance, these factors influence the amount of incoming energy. Volcanic eruption are episodic and have relatively short-term effects on climate change. Changes in solar radiation have influenced the climate over the past centuries. Since the industrial revolution, human have produced large amount of greenhouse gases to atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. The build-up of  greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has led to an enhancement of natural greenhouse effect. Human will continuing contribute to the greenhouse effect and warm our planet's temperature.

Climate change has lots of impacts on human and society. For example: rising temperature causes some regions experience extreme heat while other regions experience slightly cold. Also, other disasters, such as flooding, drought, violent storms can also cause lots of deaths of people. Climate change also impacts water resources. Water is tied tightly to other resources and social issues, such as food supply, health, industry, transportation and ecosystem. Once water and food are affected, human will be in a dangerous situation. It's very serious, climate change not only affects us, but also affects our generations. If we keep warming our planet, earth will finally be destroyed!

In order to reduce the rising in temperature, we can choose using renewable energy than fossil fuels. As students, we can walk or bike to school instead of taking cars or buses. When we are at home, we can turn off the light as soon as possible whenever we do not use it. There are lots of things that we can do to reduce the global warming.

Stronger-er-er

The song that I choose is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. It is released in 2000s. The reason why I choose this song is that it inspires me a lot. The first time when I heard this song is when I was in primary school, I was too little and only found the song was pretty loud and powerful and it made me feel high. As I grow up, I understand more about the deep meanings behind the song.

It is an amazing song. Obviously, the lyrics of this song are about the feelings of the singer after break up. She is telling that guy that she is good and all the pain that he gives her make her stronger. Even enough that guy thinks she will be lost with out him, it turns out that she is better off without him. As she sings: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, she is telling herself that she is strong and also telling us that don’t be afraid of being lost in love and trying to face those problems and making ourselves stronger. In lyrics, she also talks about the difference of “along” and being “lonely” (“Doesn't mean I’m lonely when I’m alone”) She is along but not lonely without that guy! Kelly Clarkson sings this song loud and repeatedly, as a way to convince her that she will be fine alone. The lyrics also state that singer starts over with someone new to express her opinion that she can be better without that guy. The lyrics are strong, loud, powerful and aggressive.

Kelly Clarkson said:" That song is just a gold mine - it's a little bit pop, a little bit pop rock, a little bit dances, and it ties everything in. And everybody loves that message. 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' It's a perfect representation of my life." I think it also represents how my own life looks like. I can also get hurt in love, what I can do is to tell myself that life will not stop because of anyone, so I'd better face problems bravely and make myself stronger. As it sings in the lyrics:" What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger, just me, myself and I". It is why I think this is a powerful song for me.
